PCFMA’s mission is to establish and operate community-supported certified farmers’ markets and other direct marketing outlets that provide: viable economic opportunities for California farmers and food producers, local access to farm fresh products, support for local businesses and community organizations, and education concerning food, nutrition and the sustainability of California agriculture.
The Network represents a statewide movement of local, state and national partners collectively working toward improving the health status of low-income Californians through increased fruit and vegetable consumption and daily physical activity. Multiple venues are used to facilitate behavior change in the homes, schools, worksites, and communities of low-income Californians to create environments that support fruit and vegetable consumption and physical activity.
Public Allies’ mission is to advance new leadership to strengthen communities, nonprofits and civic participation. Fresh Approach partners with two Whole Foods Markets. Whole Foods Franklin sponsored our spring, 2011 Cooking Matters for Adults series at St. Vincent de Paul Wellness Center in San Francisco. Whole Foods Haight selected Cooking Matters as the summer token recipient at the newest Haight street store. Whenever anyone reuses a shopping bag at the store, they can choose to donate 5 cents to support Cooking Matters.
Roots of Change (ROC) works to develop and support a collaborative network of leaders and institutions in California with interest in establishing a sustainable food system in our state by the year 2030. This network involves food producers, businesses, nonprofits, communities, government agencies, and foundations that share a commitment to changing our food thinking, food markets, and food policies. The resulting system will provide healthy and affordable food, benefits and wealth to workers and farmers, and will help restore the soil, water, species diversity, and climate upon which food production depends.
The vision of The Health Trust is to make Silicon Valley the healthiest region in America—a place where every resident can achieve optimal health throughout their lifetime, no matter their background, income, race, ethnicity or age. We believe that health care does not just take place in a doctor’s office and clinic or hospital. For everyone to achieve optimal health, the community itself must become a place that supports the health of all its residents.
Launched in 2004, the Thrive campaign embodies Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to total health. Our integrated health care delivery system and commitment to preventive care empowers our members to maximize their total health – mind, body, and spirit.
